A Presidential memorandum extends the federal hiring freeze by three months to July 15, 2025. This freeze prohibits filling vacant federal civilian positions or creating new ones, with exceptions that include immigration enforcement, national security, and public safety. When the hiring freeze ends, agencies will be able to hire no more than one employee for every four employees that depart from federal service except for the exceptions noted above.
