Starting this January, federal employees and annuitants can convert some or all of their Thrift Savings Account to a ROTH. Roth transfers result in a taxable event since you are moving deferred-tax money from your traditional TSP into an after-tax (Roth) account. There are ways to avoid moving to a higher tax bracket or paying a higher Medicare IRMMA monthly premium.
