An Executive Order establishing the Schedule Policy/Career classification in the excepted service was signed by the President. Approximately 8,000 senior, policy-influencing positions (predominantly GS-15 and Senior Level equivalents) were reclassified. These roles remain career positions, but reclassified employees are now considered “at-will” workers.
